I used to go abroad with a group of people. I do not care much about the check-in or others since we have a leader to help us with that. However, this time I go alone to Malaysia to participate in “We are one” dialogue whose purposes are: to create awareness of cultural differences at local, national and international level, as well as to identify existing common ground; to increase inter-cultural dialogue and build bridges between those of different faith and ethnicity especially between young people of Asia and Europe; and to encourage initiatives aimed at promoting understanding of the diverse cultures of countries in Asia and Europe particularly among the younger generation. I firstly feel nervous and confusing since it is the first time experience. However, I get better after getting some information from friends.
The program lasts for 5 days from 30th June-4th July, 2007 at The Legacy Melaka, Malaysia. There are around 100 participants from 27 countries, three of whom are from Cambodia namely Bun Tharum (Asia Foundation), Sok Vatola (KYA), and I. The countries are Austria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brunei, Cambodia, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Slovenia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam.
